For our first session we headed to the construction site on the town bypass road. The work was almost over, but there was still some machinery left.
On the bypass road.
The bypass road, Kamniška Bistrica river on the left and Stari grad hill in the background.
Then the sun emerged from behind the clouds.
Beware.
Light signal.
Then we moved to the train station and waited for the train to arrive.
Back in the town center I found this house interesting, but the photo doesn't really fit the theme.
There were a couple of downpours while we were out shooting, so we had to seek shelter. After we'd given up and called it a day, I decided to drive up to the summit of Stari grad to capture this amazing light. Yes, it was really that freaky.
A week or so later we gathered again. The weather was nicer to us this time. First, the train.
I almost got run over for this picture. :)
Then we headed up Zaprice hill with a nice view over Kamnik and Stari grad.
OK, a nice road, but nothing special.
Šutna, the main street leading through Kamnik center.
A sun-lit alley.
The house on the left is the same I took a photo of the last time.
Main square.
I thought the reflection and the house basking in the late-afternoon light were quite interesting.
Then we camped at the main square and had a lesson in panning. Between us, we probably took hundreds of photos in less than an hour.
Yes, panning takes practice.
If the path of the subject isn't parallel to the plane of sensor, you won't get a completely sharp subject.
More panning.
With a wide lense the lines of the blurred background converge to the corners.
A motorbike.
Here the head is in focus, the rest of the body is more or less blurred due to the movement.
This is almost a 100% crop. The biker didn't move his body and legs a lot, that's why he isn't blurred much.
Panning with the subject coming toward you is trickier.
I wish the bus was sharper, but this was the best I could do.
Circular movement of the subject - hard work for the photographer!
After we got tired of the panning exercise, it was time to head back to our cars. On the way I took one more warning sign shot.
I seem to be fascinated with buses. :)
A very quick shot - I noticed a tractor heading towards me very fast and I just raised the camera in my hand. There was no time to change the settings, I just snapped a photo. And I love it!
